Pros: It's a green laser.
Green lasers are more visible than red lasers.
It's probably cheaper than buying a green laser locally.
It's pretty small.
Cons: Mine was certainly underspec.. I'd say it was probably around 8mW based
on my experience with 5mW and 10mW green lasers.
Mine was mode-hopping, it quickly settled on mode TEM01 after about two seconds
of operation.
The beam in off-center, it projects out at maybe a 5-10 degree angle from the
aperture.
It was much dimmer than a 20mW green should be. I couldn't see the beam at all
in a dimly lit room until I added some smoke.
Other Thoughts: I suppose the host might be nice to rebuild for a different
laser, it's fairly well constructed. It's anodized black aluminum, the tail
clicky is a bit flaky.
I sorta bought this with the intention of gutting it and putting a higher powered
laser in its case, so I'm not too miffed that the power was much lower than
advertised or that it was modehopping or that the beam comes out at an angle,
otherwise I probably would have scored it lower.
