Pros: This laser is markedly brighter than my other (cheap) green one. Furthermore the chassis is solid [enough to absorb little knocks or to survive low drops] and big enough for strong hands. The cap for the switch is luminescing and therefore the laser easy to find at night.

Cons: None found yet... [for that price]

Brightness is equivalent to other 30mw units.

Easily used for starpointing at night, as the beam is clearly visible.

VERY lightweight, compared to the many other greenies I have.

Switch has a good feel to it, the glowing end cap helps you find it in low light.

Cons: Battery compartment threads are well lubed, but the lens end is horrible, feels like sand in both units I have. A bit of grease clears it up, mostly. Has an o-ring though.

Because of the higher voltage rating, it performs poorly with a used 3.0v battery. Rechargeable 3.6v units recommended.

Other Thoughts: I did a low temperature test. After eight minutes in the refrigerator, both units still lit up, and got to full brightness fairly quickly. Some lessor lasers of a higher price were clearly beginning to suffer at this point.

I've just checked the other posts, one poster tested it to nearly 80mw of IR. Hmm. Odd. Why the purple mirror lens? Maybe this one (newer) has been upgraded?

Bottomline: I'm ordering more! Just don't forget to have your own battery, it doesn't come with one.

After one hour at 32F/0C, one unit still went to full brightness within 10 seconds, the other unit was in trouble, but DID still light up. This is very very good performance for a budget green laser.

IT HAS AN IR FILTER!!! I think. It has a purple mirror lens on it, is that for IR? It may not fully filter the IR, but it sure seems to explain why it is such a good cold weather performer...the IR gets reflected back into the crystal were it belongs!

Bottomline: I really like this laser!
It is not only great for showing stars when facing upwards or to help the cat losing weight but also to annoy your neighbours or have it just for fun ;-)
